The accuracy and clinical utility of this assay in screening patients with rhabdomyolysis have not been examined. Methods. We conducted a retrospective analysis of the relationship between creatine kinase (CK), WebMyopathy and Rhabdomyolysis: Risk factors include age 65 years or greater, uncontrolled hypothyroidism, renal impairment, concomitant use with certain other drugs, and higher simvastatin dosage. Chinese patients may be at higher risk for myopathy. Discontinue simvastatin if markedly elevated CK levels occur or myopathy is diagnosed or suspected.
